La Mauny's Cuvée du Nouveau Monde XO Hors d'Âge is an AOC old agricultural cuvée from a multi-vintage blend launched in the late 1990s , in commemoration of the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's first voyage in 1492. This numbered carafe bears the number 14059 – this very confidential edition only appears occasionally at prestigious wine merchants and examples change hands very rarely.

To create it, cellar master Daniel Baudin brought together twelve rums from the 1979 , 1988 , 1999 and 2004 vintages, all aged for many years in a tropical climate in French oak barrels. Conceived as a link between the Old and New Worlds, this composition combines the liveliness of the 1990s juices with the gourmet patina of the 1970s vintages.

Its deep amber is accompanied by a sophisticated sensory profile: on the nose, roasted and chocolate notes , candied apricot, spicy caramel and a light coppery woody nuance On the palate, the attack is sweet and spicy, revealing tobacco, roasted spices and a shimmering bitterness, before extending into a warm and structured finish .
